Peak Particle Velocity (PPV)
Peak particle velocity is the maximum speed at which a particle of ground or a structure moves as vibration passes through it. It is commonly expressed in millimetres per second (mm/s) and is one of the most frequently referenced metrics in construction vibration specifications.
Why it matters on Singapore sites
Many Singapore project limits and consultant reports discuss vibration severity in terms of velocity (including peak values). Monitoring systems that record velocity over time help teams show whether site activity stayed within agreed controls.
